Maritime Apprenticeships.
Apprenticeships provide benefits to both the apprentice and employer.
Apprentices can work, learn and earn with ‘hands on’ experience and training, you will be employed, trained and paid before your friends who are at college, fast-tracking your career to higher earnings. You can become an apprentice at any time after your 16th birthday, whether you would like a career change or want to upskill your existing career.
Employing an apprentice is a productive and effective way to grow talent and develop a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce. You can adapt their training according to the needs of your business, motivate them to learn new skills whilst expanding and upskilling your workforce.

Apprenticeship Eligibility Criteria
Be aged 16 or over at the start of the apprenticeship (there is no upper age limit)
Have the legal right to work in the UK
Be employed, or due to be employed, in a relevant maritime role that supports completion of the programme
Have an employer able to provide appropriate workplace support and on-the-job training aligned with the apprenticeship standard
Demonstrate enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn the chosen trade
Show dedication and commitment to both coursework and workplace responsibilities
Education:
Hold, or be able to achieve prior to completion, GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in English and Maths
Apprentices without Level 1 English and Maths must achieve this and attempt the Level 2 tests before taking the End-Point Assessment
For apprentices with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or legacy statement, the minimum English and Maths requirement is Entry Level 3
British Sign Language (BSL) qualifications may be accepted as an alternative to English qualifications where this is the apprentice’s primary language
Be able to meet the MCA ML5 medical fitness standard (to be completed following a successful interview, typically funded by the employer where applicable)
